Myeloma cells are a specialized type of cancer cell that can be cultured in succession and produce immunoglobulins. SP2/0 cells are a myeloma cell line derived from BALB/C mice that do not secrete immunoglobulins, are HAT-sensitive and murine pox virus negative, and are a cell line commonly used to produce cells expressing therapeutic antibodies.

An MCB consisting of 200-300 vials is manufactured from a suitable cell clone to prevent genetic drifts and potential contamination of the original therapeutic-producing cell. We place special emphasis on virus safety testing for the Sp2/0 cell bank.
- Cell banking for working cell banks (WCB) under cGMP conditions. One vial of the MCB is expanded in a growth medium and aliquoted as WCB into > 300 vials in time, which are then cryopreserved under identical conditions as the MCB. Like the MCB, we test and characterize the WCB completely to ensure the biosafety of cell banks.
