Description | Rat Neural Stem Cells (RNSC) have multiple functions and can be induced to differentiate into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes that make up the central nervous system (CNS). The ability of neural stem cells to retain the potential of multiple cell lines and proliferate extensively in vitro provides a new approach for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and injuries. RNSC isolated from fetal or adult rat brains is cultured as free-floating neurospheres in a serum-free medium optimized by growth factors to maintain an undifferentiated proliferation state. |
