Description | Canine Chondrocytes (CnC) are derived from normal canine articular cartilage, where they produce and maintain the extracellular matrix of cartilage. After monolayer culture, CnC can be grown in alginate microspheres to study the proliferation and metabolism of chondrocytes in a three-dimensional in vitro system. Alginate microspheres provide more physiological conditions for chondrocytes and allow them to maintain normal proteoglycan production and retention. Since elderly dogs suffer from degenerative joint diseases, CnC can be a useful tool for veterinary practice |
