Proliferating Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (HEK) , Neonatal: Actively growing, dividing cells, in medium

Description Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (HEK) provide an excellent model for studying epithelial function and disease, skin biology, toxicology, and HPV infection. When growing on the insert and providing a liquid/air interface, they differentiate into layers of the squamous epithelium to form physiological 3D tissue. HEK constitutes 90% of all cells in the epidermis (the outermost skin layer). They create a barrier, intermediate filament keratin. Keratinocytes obtain melanin from melanocytes (HEM) and store it to protect against ultraviolet radiation. We strongly recommend the use of an optimized Human EpiVita medium to enhance the performance and in vitro life of HEK.
